A Festival Inspired by One of Literature's Greatest Characters 

Organised by the Nikos Kazantzakis Museum, the festival returns seven years after its last major edition with a new theme inspired by one of the world's most celebrated novels: Zorba the Greek.

Marking eighty years since the novel's first publication, this year's programme explores the enduring legacy of Alexis Zorba, a character who has become a universal symbol of freedom, authenticity and the joy of living. Through literature, theatre, music, visual arts and contemporary artistic expression, the festival brings Kazantzakis' timeless work into the present day, inviting visitors to experience it from a fresh perspective. 

Where an Entire Village Becomes Part of the Story 

What makes the ZORBA Festival truly unique is its setting. 

Rather than unfolding inside a single venue, the festival spreads throughout the picturesque village of Myrtia, transforming its stone-built streets, peaceful courtyards and village square into an open cultural stage. During these few summer days, art becomes part of everyday life, inviting visitors to wander through the village as each corner reveals a new story, performance or musical experience.

• The immersive promenade performance "7 Stations Inspired by Zorba", one of the festival's signature experiences, inviting audiences to explore Myrtia through theatre and storytelling.  
• Live concerts featuring acclaimed Greek musicians.  

• Children's activities, including a treasure hunt inspired by the festival's themes.

As the organiser of the festival, the museum extends its mission beyond its exhibition spaces, transforming literature into a living cultural experience that engages visitors of every age.
