The Favor – The Story of Ficus

At Creta Maris, the Ficus tree has been part of the landscape long before the hotel was established. In 1975, plans to cut the tree during construction were met with resistance from Mrs. Theano Metaxa, who made an ultimatum: “If the Ficus goes, so do I.” Her heartfelt plea resonated deeply with Mr. Metaxa, saving the tree and transforming it into an enduring symbol of their love for each other, as well as their shared respect for nature and all living things.

The tree has grown into one of the most photographed spots at the resort, reminding guests that sometimes, the things we cherish most are worth protecting.

Au Creta Maris, l’arbre de Ficus fait partie du paysage bien avant la création de l’hôtel. En 1975, des plans pour abattre l’arbre lors de la construction ont été confrontés à une résistance farouche de Madame Theano Metaxa, qui lança un ultimatum : « Si le Ficus part, je pars aussi. » Son appel sincère toucha profondément Monsieur Metaxa, sauvant l’arbre et le transformant en un symbole durable de leur amour mutuel, ainsi que de leur respect partagé pour la nature et tous les êtres vivants.

L’arbre est devenu l’un des endroits les plus photographiés du complexe, rappelant aux invités que parfois, les choses que nous chérissons le plus valent la peine d’être protégées.

Der Gefallen – Die Geschichte des Ficus

Im Creta Maris gehört der Ficusbaum schon lange vor der Errichtung des Hotels zur Landschaft. 1975 stießen die Pläne, den Baum während des Baus zu fällen, auf Widerstand von Frau Theano Metaxa, die ein Ultimatum stellte: „Wenn der Ficus geht, gehe auch ich.“ Ihre herzliche Bitte berührte Herrn Metaxa tief, rettete den Baum und verwandelte ihn in ein dauerhaftes Symbol ihrer Liebe zueinander sowie ihres gemeinsamen Respekts für die Natur und alle lebenden Wesen.

Der Baum ist zu einem der am häufigsten fotografierten Orte im Resort geworden und erinnert die Gäste daran, dass manchmal die Dinge, die wir am meisten schätzen, es wert sind, geschützt zu werden.
